Do you want to take a sneak peek at all the logo designs we went through? Of course you do, we’re all nosey.
The problem was that our current logo just didn’t feel right any more. I designed the ‘splat’when I first started the business.
Actually scrap that, my mate Dave designed the logo. I just never paid him.
The old logo

The splat logo was supposed to represent a number of things. Green for Devon, D for the 3 D’s in the business name. Finally, the splat was in the rough shape of Devon.

However, Dave knew nothing about logo design. So I can blame a lot of this on him. On another hand, I also knew nothing about logo design. So it’s still Dave’s fault.
A couple of months ago we asked Andrew from Lathwell & Associates to design us something new.
The new logo

However there were a few initial designs that we also explored.
The initial brief was to design a logo that showed us in a more professional manner. Frankly, the logo needed to represent our ‘grown up’ business.
I started when I was 24. Full of piss and vinegar. The old logo was exactly what I wanted to represent. Energy, youth, passion and colour.
As the business has evolved I wanted a more simplistic logo. Something that represented the core principles of Devon Digital Design Ltd and what my WordPress website design and lead generation, digital marketing business stood for.
Typically we go deeper than other WordPress website design agencies, we dig deeper into the reason behind web design and marketing. There are layers to what we do man. Ask any of my customers and they’ll say the same.
What I wanted for inspiration
I had a ton of ideas that I wanted to use. I’m a big fan of the polygonal designs that are popular at the moment. Stuff like the below.

The design process
Naturally I tried to design a logo myself. Assuming that I could do the job again. In fact I was so proud of the designs that I assumed Andrew would say ‘these are too good, there’s no point in me trying’.

Andrew played along, but took my designs, my brief and delivered the below.
So to wrap up, we chose the 3D design. In conclusion, this logo just jumped right off the page and I couldn’t be happier with it.
It follows all the great characteristics of a decent logo.
It’s easily reproducible, even by hand.
It looks good in black and white or grey.
Finally, it doesn’t rely on a current trend or design style. Polygons popular now, but I’m sure they’ll fall out of favour.
So, with that, we have a new beautiful logo.
